When they went back to weave home a few years ago and visited Mexico and saw the beautiful shoes Mexican artisans were able to create by hand, they knew they wanted to support their art and share it with the world. Each pair of SOLS was hand-made by professional artisans living in Pueblitos, Mexico, using weaving techniques and patterns handed down from generation to generation. They are in close contact with 13 talented craftsmen working with them, and they are developing every day. Each of them had children, aged between six months and 15 years. Fairtrade wages each SOLS purchase provides allow them to support their families and provide for their basic needs without having to travel long distances to sell their shoes or take children out of school to work.
