About Sky View Observatory
Sky View Observatory is located in the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle, it is your ideal first stop to visit the Emerald City. Here, you can portray the experience of the entire Pacific Northwest: riding big wheels, shopping at Pike Place Market, hiking through waterfalls, taking a ferry to Bainbridge Island, exploring Elliott Bay, exploring the San Juan Islands . Sky View Observatory is 902 feet tall and is the highest public viewing area in the Pacific Northwest. 360-degree panoramas include Mount Rainier, Bellevue, Cascade Range, Mount Baker, Elliott Bay, Olympic Mountains, Space Needle and Seattle City. The many technological innovations required for such a large-scale project, such as viscoelastic dampers and triangular supports, have made the Columbia Center resistant to earthquakes and hurricanes, making it one of the strongest and safest buildings in the Pacific Northwest.
